just bought the software. download link says its windows only is that right?
Yes, EvolvingTraders is a Windows application (Windows 10/11 64-bit). There is no macOS or Linux version currently available.

it took me 2 min. something wrong with your internet lol its not that big
The download time depends on your internet connection speed. The installer is the normal size for the full software package — most users complete the download within a couple of minutes on a standard connection.

i get a windows smartscreen warning when i try to install. is this safe?

yeah common for small dev software. click "run anyway" - its fine. smartscreen flags anything without a cert
Windows SmartScreen may show a warning for unsigned applications. This is normal for many independent software products. The installer is safe — you can click "Run anyway" to proceed.

installed fine but when i launch it nothing happens. no error, no window. task manager shows the process running. help?

try running as admin. had that issue too - turned out my antivirus was blocking it silently. added an exclusion and worked
Try running the application as administrator. Also check if your antivirus software is blocking it — adding an exclusion for EvolvingTraders in your antivirus settings may help.

i downloaded the update but it says i need to uninstall first. do i lose my strategies and settings?
Strategies are saved wherever you choose — simply save them outside the EvolvingTraders folder to keep them safe. Also make sure you back up any custom indicators you added. In general, a new version will not overwrite your existing installation unless you actively choose to do so.

confirm - i updated twice and all my strats were still there. just make sure u dont manually delete the appdata folder or something dumb

what are the minimum specs? got an old laptop with 4gb ram and win10. will it run?
Minimum requirements are Windows 10/11 64-bit, 4 GB RAM, and approximately 1 GB of free disk space. Your laptop should handle normal usage. Heavy backtests or running many strategies may be slower with 4 GB.
